Maya Rehman

A contemporary reimagining of the traditional coffee house, Lali Coffee Haus reflects what the genre might feel like when translated through the lens of an interior designer. It embodies Rehman’s distinctive design language while weaving in the warmth and soul of Middle Eastern hospitality.

A curated blend of vintage furniture and artwork by local Houston artists captures the essence of Rehman’s design language. The deep oxblood walls bring a refined touch of color, enriching the space while preserving its dark, moody atmosphere. At the heart of the room, the Hermes sofa commands attention, complemented by the sculptural elegance of the Layla chairs from Rehman Home.

The space called for strong architectural details to elevate its builder-grade design, so Rehman created custom window panels featuring a perforated pattern. The design invites natural light to pour in while adding depth, texture, and a sense of architectural intrigue to the room.

Italian ceramic tiles, designed to naturally crack as they set, create a textured and visually captivating backdrop for the custom checkout desk. The desk itself is draped in Et Maquina by Cosentino, forming a striking contrast between the organic imperfection of the tiles and the sleek, sculptural surface of the stone.

Featuring artisanal pieces from Rehman Home, including the striking Portal Mirror, the space showcases a refined blend of craftsmanship and character. To enrich the overall design, Rehman incorporated selections from his personal archive, such as a pair of brass, black, and white Kelly Wearstler table lamps that add sculptural depth and timeless elegance.
