COME TO ART BASEL 2022 WITH BILAL REHMAN STUDIO

Art Basel as always did not disappoint. In fact, this was a very special Art Basel for us because this was the first time we’ve gone as a studio. From the moment we landed at Miami International Airport, we were immediately greeted with an art installation designed specifically for this special occasion. A short train ride to the rental car pick-up and we were off to begin our journey through the exciting parties, events, galleries, and festivities this week had to offer.

Our first stop was our hotel, we stayed at the SLS Lux in Brickell which had some stunning interior design. From the intricately laid marble flooring to the larger-than-life custom light fixture in the lobby, eye candy was everywhere. We got lucky and ended up getting a 2 bedroom suite on the 6th floor with views of City Center Brickell. The suite featured 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a full kitchen, a living room, a dining room, a laundry room, a wrap around balcony and beautiful furnishings. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking to stay in a modern hotel in Brickell.

After checking in, we headed to the Miami Design District to grab a bite to eat and do some shopping. We chose to eat at Mandalin, this small Mediterranean bistro that had the coziest courtyard and made you feel like you were in Greece. Oddly enough, almost everyone in the restaurant was wearing white, which helped enhance the feeling of being in Greece. The food was outstanding, we got a little bit of everything on the menu and had a couple of their signature cocktails, none of them were any less tasty than another.

After the amazing lunch, we returned to our hotel to prepare for the Kelly Wearstler X ARCA launch party. Anyone who knows Bilal knows that Kelly is one of his favorite designers of all time so this event was huge for our studio. Bilal was dressed in head-to-toe vintage Versace for the event and his outfit was definitely a conversation starter. The event started out slow but picked up very fast, although it was an invite-only event, Kelly’s team invited the who’s-who of the design world and some amazing influencers. Checkout some photos from the event below.

The collection, as expected was absolutely stunning. From the silhouettes to the material selections and the artisan craftsmanship, Kelly never disappoints. I expect to see these pieces to influence the interior design trends for 2023. Until next year Art Basel. XBR
